The Office of Program Review and Learning Outcomes advances institutional excellence by overseeing and supporting a collegewide culture of ongoing academic program review, inquiry, and assessment. The office ensures compliance with institutional and program-specific accreditation standards and policies, supports continuous quality improvement for student success, and assists programs in meeting APR reporting requirements.
Core Functions
Facilitate Academic Program Reviews: Support planning, implementation, and completion of collegewide academic program reviews to ensure periodic curriculum improvement and alignment with institutional goals and accreditation requirements through a process of self-reflection, peer review and benchmarking.
Coordinate Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, interpret, and synthesize data from multiple sources to produce actionable reports that inform decision-making, support accreditation, and drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Support Student Learning Outcomes Assessment: Facilitate the identification, development, and validation of student learning outcomes at program and discipline levels, ensuring rigorous and compliant assessment practices that enhance academic quality.
Promote Professional Development and Best Practices: Support professional development opportunities for Program teams, providing resources and data to integrate best practices in assessment, program review, and instructional improvement.
Ensure Compliance and Effective Communication: Monitor institutional strategic priorities, accreditation criteria, and state requirements related to academic program review; facilitate documentation and reporting for compliance; and share program review results and recommendations in a way that fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
CAPR Purpose
Collegewide Academic Program Review (CAPR) at Miami Dade College is a comprehensive process of program self-reflection and goal setting to promote continuous curriculum improvement in teaching and learning for student success.
CAPR Policy
Collegewide Academic Program Review is supported by MDC Policy VIII-05: Evaluation and grounded in Florida Statute 1001.03(13), which mandates a cyclic review of postsecondary programs, and is aligned with the standards of Institutional and Program-specific accreditors.
