Dear Colleagues:
On November 11, we will commemorate Veterans Day. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude on behalf of the entire Miami Dade College community for the service and sacrifice that our military women, men, and their families have made and continue to make.
On Veterans Day let us pause to reflect on the value of freedom and the democratic principles we hold dear as a country. Our courageous veterans have played a crucial role in keeping our country free and safeguarding those principles, and for that, we owe them our undying gratitude. They have also been asked to perform selfless acts in service to others around the world as we, as a nation, respond to the call of duty. Our veteran service members are our friends, our families, our colleagues and an important part of what makes this such a great country and a beacon of freedom and opportunity for so many. Their dedication inspires us all.
MDC has always been committed to serving our veterans by providing them with the help and guidance they need to succeed in the workforce after their service. Whatever educational and career goals our veterans may have, we stand ready to be of service to those who have been of service to us. Our office of Veterans and Military Services is honored to have helped over 1,300 student veterans as well as numerous faculty and staff members over the past year, who have served in the military. We continue to stand ready to assist veterans and active-duty military personnel with a holistic approach that covers a range of areas including academic, emotional, financial and social needs. Our
Veterans and Military Services website is a great first step in exploring all the ways that MDC can open the doors of opportunity for veterans.
In recognition of our veterans, various groups across all our campuses will host virtual and in-person events. I encourage everyone to participate in these events as a show of appreciation.
