As we celebrate our country’s independence with loved ones and friends, I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on what freedom means as we commemorate this special day.
There is no doubt we are experiencing difficult times as a community. Yet, within difficulty lies the chance to do better. We are blessed with the ability to speak up as individuals and call for change in areas where we feel we can improve as a society. And although the pandemic is not over, we are seeing on the horizon a glimmer of hope. We should be optimistic and remain resilient as we look toward the future in making our own lives and the lives of those around us the best they can be.
This same tenacity can be found in the DNA of Miami Dade College. I am proud to say we have worked hard to thrive as a College family and support each other in reaching our educational and professional goals and get our neighbors through difficult times. The well-being of one member of this collective family belongs to all.
I thank everyone for staying focused during these unprecedented times. And I look forward to the return of all non-instructional personnel on July 6 to best serve our students ahead of the start of the new academic year. Better times are ahead.
May everyone have a safe Fourth of July.
