Adam Birnbaum, a rising top young voice in jazz piano, graduated as part of the inaugural class of jazz studies at The Juilliard School in 2003. He has become a presence on the New York City scene as a leader, composer and sideman. He has also performed on many national and world stages.
Birnbaum, who is from Boston, has released four albums in Japan and the U.S. His first release, Ballade Pour Adeline, received a Gold Disk award from Swing Journal. Birnbaum’s Three of a Mind was recognized in the New York Times and DownBeat magazine. Preludes, Birnbaum's most recent release inspired by the music of J.S. Bach, has received great critical acclaim as a ground-breaking fusion of classical and jazz music.
As a sideman, Birnbaum has performed or toured with artists including Al Foster, Greg Osby, Regina Carter, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Jazz at Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis, Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society and Cecile McLorin Salvant.
Birnbaum is an Assistant Professor of Jazz at SUNY Purchase and a Steinway Artist.
All concerts are free and open to the public. Live performances will take place at Wolfson Campus Auditorium, 300 N.E. Second Ave., Miami, FL 33132. Building 1, Room 1261. Performances will be livestreamed, except for the student ensembles.
